Stack Auth — case study

Stack Auth is an open-source alternative to Clerk/Auth0, drop-in authentication for developers, with teams, permissions, and OAuth built in. YC-backed. The core challenge was translating abstract technical concepts like auth flows, permission trees, and token management into visuals that non-technical stakeholders and time-pressed developers could instantly grasp. Rather than drowning the page in documentation, the illustrations reduce cognitive load at the exact moment a developer is deciding whether to trust the product. A clean UI mockup or a simple permission diagram does more conversion work than three paragraphs of explanation ever could.
