Terms of use

Last updated on November 3, 2026.

These terms govern the use of Plume, the email client for macOS and Windows. By downloading, installing or using Plume, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Plume.

In short

  • Plume is free during early access and may change or contain errors while it does.
  • Your mail remains yours, and you remain responsible for what you send.
  • AI features run through the provider you choose, under its own terms and pricing.
  • Plume is provided as is, and these terms are governed by French law.

Publisher

Plume is designed and published by Vincent Rodriguez (Rmoon), an independent designer based in Bordeaux, France. For any question about these terms, write to hi@rmoon.me.

Early access

Plume is in early access. Its features may change, be interrupted or be removed, and the software may contain errors. Access is granted by invitation, and Rmoon may open, limit or end early access at any time.

Price

Plume is free during early access. Should paid plans be introduced later, they will be announced in advance and will never apply to you without your explicit agreement.

Licence

Rmoon grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Plume on your own computers. Unless the law expressly allows it, you may not sell, rent, redistribute, decompile or modify Plume, nor remove its notices.

Plume, its name, its icon and its design remain the property of Rmoon. The open-source components it includes remain under their own licences.

Your accounts and your content

You remain the owner of your messages and of everything you write in Plume, and Rmoon claims no right over them. You are responsible for the email accounts you connect, which must be yours or accounts you are authorised to use, and for complying with your providers’ terms.

Plume acts on your mailbox on your provider’s servers. Deleting, archiving or moving a message in Plume therefore does the same on the server. How Plume handles your data is described in the privacy policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Plume to send unsolicited bulk mail, to send unlawful, fraudulent or harmful content, to access accounts you are not authorised to use, or to disrupt the services Plume connects to.

AI features

AI features are optional and run through the provider you connect, with your own API key or subscription. Your use of that provider is governed by its own terms, and any cost it charges is billed by the provider, not by Rmoon.

Summaries, sorting and drafted replies are generated automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review every message before sending it. You remain responsible for the messages you send.

Third-party services

Plume connects to services that Rmoon does not operate, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, other mail providers, AI providers and GitHub for updates. Their own terms apply, and Rmoon is not responsible for their availability or for changes they make.

Updates

Plume installs signed updates from inside the app. Some updates may be needed to keep Plume working with your providers, so keeping the app up to date is recommended.

No warranty

To the extent permitted by law, Plume is provided as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Rmoon is not liable for indirect damages, such as loss of data, loss of revenue or loss of opportunity, arising from the use of Plume or from the inability to use it. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, nor the rights you hold as a consumer.

Termination

You may stop using Plume at any time by uninstalling it. Rmoon may end your licence if you breach these terms, and may stop distributing Plume. In either case, the mail stored with your providers is not affected.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top, and continuing to use Plume afterwards means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law, without depriving you of the protection granted by the mandatory rules of your country of residence. In the event of a dispute, please write first to hi@rmoon.me so that a solution can be found together. Failing that, the competent French courts will have jurisdiction.
